Three-Generation Carpentry Workshop in Channagiri, Karnataka
Krishna Wooden Furniture is a family-run carpentry workshop in Channagiri, Davangere district, Karnataka — now in its third generation. The same families have worked here for over 25 years; fathers teach sons, uncles guide nephews, and an apprentice spends three years training under a master before working solo on a customer order. That continuity is the single biggest reason our furniture quality is consistent across every project, whether it ships to a Bangalore apartment or a Hyderabad villa.
Traditional Hand Joinery — Mortise, Tenon, Dovetail and Dowel
We build every piece using traditional hand joinery — mortise-and-tenon for frames, hand-cut dovetails for drawers, tongue-and-groove for panels, and doweled connections for chairs and tables. There are no metal brackets, no L-clamps, no nails driven through the structural frame. Hand-fitted joints last centuries because wood-on-wood connections move with seasonal humidity instead of working loose. This is the same joinery technique that has held heirloom Indian furniture together for 200+ years.
French Polish — 12 to 18 Hand-Rubbed Shellac Coats
Our default finish is traditional French polish — shellac dissolved in alcohol, applied in 12 to 18 thin coats and hand-rubbed between layers to build a deep mirror finish. Unlike PU or melamine which seal the wood in a plastic skin, French polish lets the wood breathe and age. It develops patina rather than peeling. And it can be refreshed at home indefinitely — a soft cloth and a fresh coat will bring a 50-year-old piece back to mirror finish in minutes. For modern aesthetics, we also offer matte PU lacquer, food-safe natural oils and waxes.
In-House Manufacturing — No Outsourcing, Single Accountability
Wood seasoning, kiln-drying, cutting, joinery, carving, upholstery, polishing and final assembly all happen under one roof in our Channagiri workshop. Nothing is outsourced. This means consistent quality, accountable timelines, no vendor-blaming if something goes wrong, and a single point of contact for warranty service through the life of the furniture. Forty-plus master carpenters, in-house polishers and upholsterers, and a single project manager assigned to every order.
Why Direct-from-Factory Pricing Is 30–40% Lower
Because we sell directly from our Channagiri factory to customers in Bangalore, Mysore, Mangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai, Coimbatore and Kochi, there is no retail showroom markup, no franchise margin and no distributor layer between you and the carpenter. The same teak bed that retails for ₹1.5 lakh in a Bangalore brand showroom is typically ₹85,000–₹1.1 lakh direct from our factory — and built by the same kind of hands that built it 200 years ago.
